School–Enterprise Collaboration: Building Excellence Together—Faculty and Students from Tangshan University Visit Yate Heavy Industry for Study and Exchange

To deepen university–enterprise collaboration and foster the seamless integration of theory and practice, on the morning of May 18, a delegation of faculty and students from the Vehicle Engineering program at Tangshan College paid a visit to Yate Heavy Industry for an educational tour. Led by their instructors, the students went directly to the production floor, gaining firsthand insight into the sophisticated craftsmanship of specialized vehicle manufacturing and the compelling appeal of the company’s corporate culture. The visit was jointly hosted by Zhou Zijun, Head of the Party and Mass Work Department; Wu Shaohui, Head of the General Management Department; and Zhou Xin, Head of the Recreational Vehicle Marketing Department.

 

 

At the outset of the event, Minister Zhou Zijun extended a warm welcome to the faculty and students of Tangshan College and provided a brief overview of Yate Heavy Industry’s development journey, industrial footprint, and technological strengths. As a leading local manufacturer of specialized vehicles in Tangshan, Yate Heavy Industry has been deeply rooted in the industry for many years, amassing robust technical expertise and extensive manufacturing experience in areas such as concrete mixer trucks and recreational RVs. The company remains committed to innovation-driven growth and actively establishes collaborative education platforms with universities to support the cultivation of skilled professionals.

Under the guidance of Minister Zhou, teachers and students visited the concrete mixer truck production workshop and the recreational vehicle final‑assembly line. From component machining and welding to full‑vehicle commissioning, every step of the process was meticulously organized and rigorously standardized. Drawing on the actual production conditions on site, Minister Zhou provided a detailed explanation of the mixer truck’s manufacturing processes, quality‑control standards, and key technological innovations. The students listened attentively, observed closely, and paused from time to time to take notes, gaining a firsthand understanding of the transformation from individual parts to the finished vehicle.

 

 

At the RV showroom, Zhou Xin, Head of the RV Marketing Department, provided a comprehensive overview of YAT’s development journey, product lineup, and core technologies. From classic models to the latest offerings, and from interior design to feature‑rich configurations, his clear and insightful presentation gave attendees a well‑rounded understanding of the recreational‑vehicle segment. Students actively engaged by asking questions about product development, market applications, and industry prospects, creating a lively and interactive atmosphere.

During the visit, the students demonstrated proactive engagement and a keen thirst for knowledge, seamlessly integrating textbook theory with real-world industrial practice, thereby deepening their understanding of the specialized vehicle sector. Participants unanimously agreed that this field trip broadened their horizons, enriched their insights, and allowed them to truly appreciate the technological allure and the spirit of craftsmanship inherent in the specialized automotive industry, thus providing clear direction for their future studies and career planning.

 

 

This visit by faculty and students from the Department of Transportation at Tangshan University represents an important step for Yate Heavy Industry in deepening university–enterprise collaboration and fulfilling its social responsibility in talent development. Moving forward, Yate Heavy Industry will continue to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with universities, further refine its industry–university–research integration mechanisms, and provide young students with more platforms for hands-on learning and personal growth.
